With a focus on interaction and adventure, our expert guide will draw families into Van Gogh's world. Exploring his varying use of color, technique, and subject matter, we will ask inquisitive questions and share stories to spark curiosity and learning for the entire family. From his almost countless self-portraits to his iconic sunflowers, we will pause to take a deeper look at a number of Van Gogh's works to seek out clues about what the man himself was like—his hopes and dreams and despairs.

As our time together draws to a close, we will reflect on what we have seen and learned. We will be intimately familiar with some of Van Gogh's most famous paintings, and some of his lesser-known treasures. Not only that, we will have gained a greater understanding of who Van Gogh was as a person—how his tumultuous life seeped into his work and how his myth was born.

After your family walk at the Van Gogh, cross the Museumplein square and try a Rijksmuseum Tour for Kids. Not traveling with kids ages 12 and under? Check out our standard Van Gogh Museum Tour.
What is a private tour?
Our private tours are limited exclusively to travelers in your party. They are designed to provide a learning experience that is completely tailored to you and your traveling companions. Private tours give you more flexibility with scheduling (you decide when the walk best fits during your trip), the ability to tailor your itinerary (we'll work to match the itinerary to the interests and dynamics of your group), and more personalized time with your guide.

Can we book this walk for later in the day?
The Van Gogh Museum becomes very crowded throughout the day. It can be especially difficult to do the family-focused approach on this walk as the museum gets more crowded. We strongly recommend an early start time.

Can we use the tickets to re-enter the museum after the tour is finished?
Tickets at the Van Gogh Museum are timed and re-entry is not permitted, but you can stay inside the museum as long as you like.

There are 7 in my group but your website won't allow me to include more than 6 participants. Can't you make an exception?
No, unfortunately, due to venue reservation restrictions, we cannot accommodate groups larger than 6 people. If your group is larger, we recommend you split into multiple groups.

Anita was great! Best way to go to the museum with the kids. The parents learned a ton as well!
Excellent tour . Our 9 and 12 year old grandchildren greatly enjoyed it ,as did we. Agnes was so skilled in engaging them and was a wonderful story teller.
We couldn't have asked for a better experienced tour guide than Maja. We have two children and Maja made sure she kept them both engaged the whole time. She knew when it was time for a break ( she even had snacks for the kids) and how to help them imagine Van Gogh's life (she made a sample for them to feel the texture of the paintings) she truly went above ad beyond our expectations. Thank you Maja so much for such an engaging experience.
