Meet Your Expert
Kana holds a BA in English from Doshisha University, Kyoto, and another BA in Japanese Classical and Traditional Arts from Kyoto University of Arts and Design. She is also qualified as a tea master from Urasenke school of tea ceremony and is an experienced government-licensed guide. Kana has been studying and working in Kyoto since 2000. During her leisure time, she loves playing the shamisen, and she also performs Kyogen (Japanese 650-year-old UNESCO heritage theater). The Zen Buddhist philosophy, “live in the moment”, has been always the core tenet of her life.
This lecture will focus on practical information of the city's top 10 highlight landmarks – ranging from sites to see, food to eat, trails to hike, art to experience, and day trips from Kyoto, with transportation information.
Led by a local expert and national-licensed guide, Kana Hattori, this interactive lecture will help participants best plan their next adventure to Kyoto. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with increased knowledge and confidence to enjoy this beautiful magical city.

This is a great way to understand the best places to go in Kyoto and to avoid the most over-touristed and crowded spots in favor of beautiful places where you will have more room to yourself.
