About Dimitria

Dimitria is a licensed tour guide and a Doctor in the Sciences of Information and Communication. She graduated with a degree in ancient Greek language and literature from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (B.Sc. degree) and received her Master’s Degree in Political Communication from the University of Paris-Est in 2004 (France). In 2011, she received her PhD from the University of Paris-Est and Panteion University of Political and Social Sciences of Athens, and completed her studies at the National Tourists’ Guide School of Thessaloniki. She has been accredited as an International Trainer of tour guides by the World Federation of Tourist Guides Associations (WFTGA). She has been elected General Secretary of the Association of the Tourist Guides of Athens (2012-2014) and is a member of its executive board (2014-2016). Dimitria trains tour guides in Greece and teaches at the Department of Tourism of the International Hellenic University. She combines her academic background and theoretical research with work in the field. Working as a tour guide permits her to enrich her academic interests, and teaching and researching allow her to develop new methods of training. She has spoken at national and international conferences, published numerous scientific articles in journals and collective volumes. as well as in the Greek press. She also lectures at Panteion University as a guest speaker, while continuing her academic research.
