Tour Description
Interested in a day out in London with a big dose of art thrown in? We’ve drafted the ideal itinerary for those looking for a deep-dive into London’s artistic side. In the company of a local expert, we'll spend our time unpacking two of London’s top sites, as well as intriguing neighborhoods with a walking orientation. From the British Museum, to Bloomsbury and Covent Garden, to the National Gallery this tour is a wonderful introduction for those looking to explore London through an artistic lens.

Please note: The Rosetta Stone will not be on display in the permanent exhibition of the British Museum until Spring 2023. All museum exhibits are subject to closure at short notice. Your expert will be able to explain any closures to you at the start of the tour and refocus the tour on the available exhibits if necessary.

We’ll kick things off at one of London’s most renowned sites, the British Museum. The Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon Marbles, and the Assyrian Lion Hunt are just some of the wonders we’ll see on our in-depth morning tour of the British Museum. Together with our expert, we will explore the controversial side of the museum’s collecting, as well as discussing in detail its many works from antiquity, such as its Ancient Egyptian, Greek, Assyrian, Persian, and Mesopotamian artifacts.

After a morning well-spent and fuelled on some coffee, we’ll begin an amble to our eventual destination of the National Gallery. Along the way, we’ll take in some of London’s bustling streets and impressive architecture. Our path winds through the cultural and intellectual district of Bloomsbury and that of the vibrant neighborhood of Covent Garden. We’ll finish up at the National Gallery where we’ll walk through 700 years of Western art with our knowledgeable expert. From an impressive Northern Renaissance collection to one of Da Vinci's finest paintings, through the Post-Impressionists, we’ll explore some of western civilization's best works in this unparalleled collection.

At the end of our full-day itinerary, we will emerge with a better idea of the art on offer in this lively British capital. After having ventured together across the city to sites relevant to London's artistic identity, our full-day tour will leave us with a greater appreciation of what London has to offer.

What is a private tour?
Our private tours are limited exclusively to travelers in your party. They are designed to provide a learning experience that is completely tailored to you and your traveling companions. Private tours give you more flexibility with scheduling (you decide when the walk best fits in your trip), the ability to tailor your itinerary (we'll work to match the itinerary to the interests and dynamics of your group), and more personalized time with your guide.

What happens if it's raining?
Luckily much of this tour happens indoors, but our tours happen rain or shine. Our guides are great at adapting their route during changes of weather. Please bring an umbrella.

Is this walk suitable for families?
Absolutely! It’s a long day but we have some expert guides specifically trained to work with younger learners and can adapt the material on this tour to fit with families. For a specific family-friendly London tour, we do recommend our London in a Day for Kids tour.

There are 8 in my group but your website won't allow me to include more than 7 participants. Can't you make an exception?
No, unfortunately, due to venue reservation restrictions, we cannot accommodate groups larger than 7 people. If your group is larger, we recommend you split into multiple groups.

Can you arrange a car service for the day?
Yes. We can arrange a car service to pick you and drop you off at your hotel if you would like. The price of a full-day service starts at $730. Otherwise, we suggest traveling in between sites on foot, underground train or taxi.
