Eric is a historian with over 12 years of experience living in Kyoto, dedicated to exploring and sharing the city's rich history and culture. A former academic turned seasoned guide, he pursued a PhD at Doshisha University, focusing on Native American trans-Pacific history, before transitioning to a career in tourism. Eric holds a Master’s degree from Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto and has taught English and social studies at all levels, from kindergarten to graduate school.

As a guide, Eric specializes in Geimaiko (Geisha) culture, Kyoto’s stunning gardens, and historical storytelling.
