Cynthia Coutu
Cynthia is a Canadian who has been living in Paris for 30 years. She obtained a B.A. in Fine Arts (Photography) in Canada, before coming to France to do a Masters in Art History at the Sorbonne. Her love of wine and cheese kept her in France. She studied wine at L’Académie du Vin and L’École du Vin, and is certified Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 3 with Merit.
Since then, Cynthia has specialized in champagne - the king of wines and the wines of kings! She teaches champagne masterclasses, judges wine contests, hosts champagne tasting events, and loves taking people to visit her favorite champagne producers. She was voted Best Wine Tasting in Paris by Expatriates Magazine and Wine Expert of the Year by Luxury Travel Guide Global Awards. In 2024, she was awarded Champagne Expert of the Year - Paris by LuxLife, and Food and Wine Expert by Corporate Live Wire. She is currently researching the role of women in the history of Champagne for a book project.
We enjoyed our Champagne Tour immensely. Cynthia was a fountain of knowledge and passionate about her craft. We now have an appreciation for the incredible effort and skill it takes to deliver the bubbly to our glasses. Then we learned about the varieties and the way to pour and then enjoy our champagne, of course with proper pairing to our meal! Reims Cathedral was the icing on the cake. We would highly recommend Cynthia and Context Tours to our friends. This was our third tour. Each one amazing with a knowledgeable tour guide who taught us and made us feel comfortable. We had so much fun.
