Your adventure begins at the iconic Capo Market, a bustling mix of flavors and colors. Your guide will provide you and your children with “foodbuster” cards and will accompany you in this hands-on exploration of Mediterranean culinary treasures, identifying local specialties through the market stalls. Along the way, they’ll learn about the cultural significance of Palermo’s food traditions.Â
The next stop is a UNESCO-recognized tradition: the art of Sicilian puppeteers and Opera dei Pupi. Your guide will take you to an intimate workshop, where you’ll meet a master artisan and you will see how these intricate puppets are created, from their fine metal armor to their animated movements. This craft is a centuries-old tradition transmitted from master to pupil. At the end of your visit, you will enjoy a brief but thrilling demonstration of a classic battle scene.
The tour ends at the quiet Garibaldi Garden in Piazza Marina. Among ancient ficus trees and the impressive Palazzo Chiaramonte, you will have a little picnic with delights collected from the market. This personalized and educational experience provides you and your family with a deeper connection to Palermo’s unique blend of history, culture, and community.

What is the recommended age range for this tour? Is it possible for the guide to supervise our children while we take some time for ourselves?
Our tour is designed with children aged 6–10 in mind, but siblings of other ages are welcome to join as long as they are supervised by a parent or guardian. For safety and insurance reasons, children must always be accompanied by an adult, and the guide cannot conduct the tour for unaccompanied minors. At least one adult is required to stay with the group throughout the experience. This tour is carefully crafted to be a fun and enriching experience for the entire family—kids and adults alike!
Is this tour suitable for people with food allergies or dietary restrictions?
Yes, but it’s essential to inform us about any allergies or intolerances in advance. The guide can adjust the itinerary to accommodate dietary needs. Additionally, since most of the food for the picnic is purchased during the walk at the market, clients will have the opportunity to choose what to include or avoid.
Do the food tastings replace a meal? In general, the picnic in the park typically provides enough food to satisfy as a full meal. However, it's important to note that this is not a formal sit-down experience or an organized lunch. While most participants find the tastings filling and don't need to eat immediately afterward, individual appetites may vary. The picnic includes generally various cheese, cold cuts, arancine or similar, bread, seasonal fruit, sweets and drinks.
