Zachary Lindsey

Anthropologist in Riviera Maya
About Zachary

Zac is an anthropologist who lives in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, which is part of the Riviera Maya. Zac has lived in the Maya Riviera for three years, and he's been visiting for more than a decade.
Throughout that time, he's never stopped feeling the wonder of seeing ancient ruins in the jungle. He's visited more than 40 archaeological sites in Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala, and worked on two archaeological sites in Belize. He's written about Maya art, hieroglyphs, and architecture for academic journals and general interest magazines.
Zac has a Masters in Anthropology from Texas State University. There, he interacted with major figures in the study of Mesoamerican art, including F. Kent Reilly III and David Freidel. But he's also well-versed in contemporary Maya culture and the social and environmental issues facing the region. He loves helping people understand the connections between the ancient ruins of Yucatan and the living people.
