“Looking at artworks or architecture is like looking through a window. It offers another view, another world, that informs me about the zeitgeist and everything that goes with it: politics, societal issues, and culture.”
Being half French, half British and having lived in Amsterdam for a long time, Valérie has her roots in various European cultures. With a Bachelors in Sociology and a Masters Art History, she developed a keen interest in the interaction between art, the artist, and society. After studying Dutch 17th and 19th century art history, she continued to conduct art historical research and worked as a curator at the Museum Singer Laren for several exhibitions. Over the last eight years, Valérie has worked for various galleries and international auction houses as an expert in Old Masters & 19th century art and is now determined to commit her time to sharing the history, art and essences of the Provence with all passionate enthousiasts.
Outside her role as a Context travel guide, she dedicates her hours to food and wine, hiking, flea markets, and her PhD research about female agency in 17th century art production and patronage.
