During our first trip to Japan, my husband and I took the Nishiki Market tour with Robin. This was a great way to learn about the food culture of Kyoto and the benefit of an insider’s perspective on the market. The market is a complex mix of traditional vendors and vendors catering to the increasing influx of foreign tourists. As we navigated through the busy market, Robin provided detailed and interesting information on many food ingredients -- including spices, noodles, tofu, local vegetables, teas, seafood, mochi and nori.

Very enjoyable tour, with a knowledgeable and pleasant guide. I especially appreciated that Robin suggested we get the tofu set menu for lunch. I would never have selected that on my own and it was delicious and fun to experience high-quality tofu several different ways.
