Matthew Devine is a registered architect with a passion for architecture, design, community, history and travel – and is happiest when he is experiencing new things associated with these interests or sharing them with others!
He studied architecture and heritage conservation at the University of Sydney and has worked across a wide spectrum of the architecture and heritage conservation industries in Sydney, Australia. As a result, Matt has a broad understanding of Australian architecture and architectural history, and especially the past, current and future development of Sydney.
He also teaches heritage conservation (aka historic preservation) the University of Sydney, and works in Strategic Planning at the City of Sydney.
Matt is intrigued by how things are made - including buildings and cities - and how they are used and by whom.
Matt was an excellent guide for our interest in history and city planning. We saw many important sights within Sydney CBD and learned so much about the city's development. Just as importantly, he was a lot of fun to tour the city with!
Very personable and knowledgeable. Great conversation and listened as well as talked. A very enjoyable experience.
As always, Context guides are wonderful and Matthew is no exception. He was lovely, informative and provided a great first day in Sydney experience for us.
