Curiosity and a deep love for Matilde's land have been the driving forces behind much of her life and work. Matilde began her education with a degree in Modern Literature, later specializing in teaching the History of Art. However, her path didn’t lead her to teaching. In 2009, she co-founded a cultural association with colleagues to promote new ways of experiencing Sicily and to organize cultural events in her hometown of Catania. Her interests are diverse, spanning history, art, archaeology, and their connections to the volcano and its traditions.
