Marketa grew up in a small village in Eastern Bohemia, a region in today's Czech Republic. She first studied at the Academy of Agriculture before leaving home to pursue her dream of living and working in Prague. Her varied interests took her to further study at the Academy of Economics and the Business Academy of Tourism before passing her guide licensing exams in 1995. Around the same time, she began to work in the Jewish Museum in Prague and continues to work in their Center for Education, while also participating as an integral, non-practicing member of their cultural community. Guiding is her passion as well as her profession; she feels that with this work, you never stop learning and it offers opportunities to unite people rather than separate them. Marketa enjoy travelling and hiking and is interested in the traditions and histories of her own country and those of others.
