Louis fell in love with the Québec metropolis as a bike courier 30 years ago. He decided to become a tour guide 10 years ago, when he realized that human connection was missing from his work as a professional translator. It was also the perfect way to combine his passions for meeting people, talking about history, and speaking the different languages he learned in Europe (English, German, Italian, and Spanish). He underwent the “Guide touristique” program at ITHQ (Institut de tourisme et d'hôtellerie du Québec) in 2016, to obtain the Montréal tourist guide permit. After a training program on guiding techniques in Cyprus, he became a WFTGA (World Federation of Tourist Guides Association) certified guide trainer. He was the President of APGT (Association professionnelle des guides touristiques de Montréal) in 2019-2020. Besides guiding, Louis teaches geography at a tourism school, translates for the subtitling company he founded in 2007, and enjoys meeting new people and trying exotic foods through his travels (Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Romania, Lebanon, Algeria).
Louis was an amazing guide! We are so happy we had him show us around old Montreal for our first visit to Canada!
