Overall, the entire experience was outstanding. The only item that our group wished was a little clearer was the amount of pre-planning required for those with mobility issues. Again, not a reflection of the company or Lorraine!
Our Crash Course tour of the Louvre with Lorraine was beyond fantastic; it was a highlight of our five days in Paris. At the start of the tour Lorriane asked about our interests and goals, and then tailored the day to our desires. She is deeply knowledgeable about art history and led us on a smartly curated path through the museum, investing time in the early going to plant seeds of knowledge about history and artistic techniques that germinated later in the day as our tour progressed. She was patient with our questions, and was a strong advocate on our path through the museum against the sometimes over-zealous museum guards. We appreciated her use of the Louvre collection to demonstrate concepts such marble sculptural techniques, what’s so amazing about Greek sculpture vs. Roman copies, the difference between tempera and oil paintings and, as the conclusion, why the Mona Lisa is, in fact, worthy of the position it holds as the world’s most recognized masterpiece. Overall, the tour was a fabulous introduction to the Louvre and we would recommend it highly to anyone who has an interest in learning more deeply about the art on display.
