He got his first degree in history and archaeology at the University of Athens (‘distinction’), and his postgraduate degree in archaeology at the University of Birmingham. He undertook Ph.D. research in heritage management at University College London, and attended MBA courses on business strategy and management at London Business School.
He teaches Cultural Organisations Management at the Hellenic Open University, and provides consultancy for the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) and for national and local organisations, and companies. His research has gained international recognition and awards.
He is also a licensed tour guide. His tours focus on: history, archaeology, mythology, philosophy, and political ideology; the importance of the past in contemporary societies, the policies as well as the complexities of protecting and managing heritage sites in the present, and the development of the tourism industry.
