Eric has been in the Netherlands since 1999. While living in the heart of Amsterdam, in the old Jewish neighborhood where Rembrandt once lived, he developed a passion and knowledge for its rich history, architecture, and culture. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Washington in Seattle.
For 22 years, Eric worked in education at the Rembrandt House Museum, demonstrating Rembrandt’s painting and etching techniques. Then, he pivoted to leading tours and workshops on traditional paint-making. A great deal of his skills and knowledge about 17th-century painting and paint-making came from his work at the Rembrandt House Museum and Verfmolen de Kat, a pigment grinding windmill in Zaandam. As a painter, he uses many of these techniques in his own works.
