Eireann was raised in a 15th Century villa in Vicenza, Italy. Living in the Veneto ensured that she was immersed from an early age in the culture around her, in particular Venice. She has passed this on to her children, who have spent school holidays visiting sites all over Europe. She took her B.A. at Barnard College, Columbia University, New York and her PhD at the University of Exeter, U.K.. Her doctoral thesis focussed on ethnic identity in ancient Libya. She teaches for the Open University in the U.K. and combines this with her role as Guide Lecturer. In 2019, she won the prestigious Wanderlust Magazine's Top History and Culture Guide, recognising her ability to engage, educate and entertain on her tours of the areas once occupied by the Roman Empire. While specialising in the Classical world, she has also led many tours to sites famous later in time, such as Venice, Florence and Rome of the Popes.
Eireann is bilingual in English and Italian.
