Duygu has been working as a guide since 2003, and her first degree was in Tourism Guiding. She never stopped being a student, and joined seminars about the history of religions and history of the Ottoman and Byzantine Empires. She led tours around Turkey till she became a mother of a son in 2008. Since then she has taken tours mostly in Istanbul. As she focused more on Istanbul, she studied Art History at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University where she is still doing her master in Contemporary Art. She also took classes from sociology and studied uses of memoir in context of cultural and urban memory.
Duygu was born in the old city of Istanbul, she was always surrounded by big mosques (mosques with their large courtyards were playgrounds for kids), busy streets and different cultures while growing up. She grew up to become a flaneuse, never tired of walking at the backstreets of the city and observing the change. That is why Duygu considers herself to be a witness and a narrator of Istanbul.
