Djémil Si Ahmed
Born and raised in the vibrant city of Paris into a multicultural family, Djémil’s love affair with food ignited at an early age, nurtured by traditional Northern French and Mediterranean cuisines, and the bustling local markets. This passion transformed into a lifelong commitment to exploring the world’s diverse cuisines as a gateway to understand cultures. He gained precious insights into what makes the French food culture so distinctive in Western Europe by working for 12 years for PepsiCo’s premium brands.
Djémil has implemented food sustainability projects for the City of Paris, in partnership with local retailers and restaurants, creating regenerative loops from the field to the fork, while maintaining the terroirs’ quality. When he is not writing poetry on a café terrace, Djémil enjoys building bridges between cultures for his guests.
We got so much more than an introduction to French cuisine. Incredible experience. Macarons, classic and adventurous. Chocolate from Patrick Roger! Charcuterie and cheese from all around France. Armagnac…perfectly paired wines. Fresh amazing strawberries from the local market. And bread from Thierry Marx, wow. A feast on foot! Our guide, Djémil gave us French food history, sociology, biology, and culture. He put the context in Context.
Oh my gosh, this was so fun! We thoroughly enjoyed our guide, Djemil on this culinary adventure! His enthusiasm for French food was contagious and we learned so much about the culture and history behind food in Paris. And the food we sampled was amazing! This tour also gave us the courage to forage on our own -- I highly recommend this as a starting point if you are new to Paris!
