Hi! I am a technical editor for a industrial manufacturer and the head of a Japan/US sister city organization and cultural exchange program. I've spent over 10 years living all over Japan, doing everything from embracing life as an exchange student in Tokyo to teaching English to preschoolers and seniors in the mountains of Wakayama.
My thesis focused on the historical evolution of kanji characters in Japan through a civic and political lens and how changes in modern production methods (smartphones, PCs etc.) have begun to change usage of and attitudes towards the kanji. I also researched Japanese religion, with a focus on shinbutsu bunri, the forced separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the Meiji period. I'm also deeply invested in Japanese pop culture, particularly J-pop, Japanese indie games, and anime, and I serve as a mod for a Japan-based Twitch streamer.
Building on my varied experiences, I tailor my tours to my guests' interests and knowledge and aim to provide a memorable and unique experience!
