Carmine studied Archaeology at the University of Palermo, and Prehistory at the University of Bari. He taught paleoanthropology at the University of Catania for 5 years, where he began guiding groups of university students and travelers in archaeological sites and other places of interest. He is now a full-time licensed guide in the Syracuse area. Carmine has published two guidebooks: "The history of Syracuse” and “The Maniace Castle,” and he has a particular interest in Jewish history in Sicily.
