Anna Manchin is a cultural historian of modern Central Europe. She received her B.A. in history and urban studies from Mount Holyoke College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in European history from Brown University. She has since held post-doctoral fellowships in history and in Jewish Studies at the University of Toronto, Rutgers University, the Center for Jewish History in New York and at the JDC Archives in Jerusalem. She has taught courses on European cultural history, East European Jewish history, and Jewish popular culture. Her research focuses on nationalism, Jewish history and popular and visual culture in twentieth century Hungary. She has also published several articles on Jewishness in contemporary Hungarian public life and popular culture.
