First, I tried to handle this by phone with Context but they didn’t call me after I emailed them and gave them my phone number. They didn’t call, but did write back saying they were sorry and that I could call them. I tried, no luck so writing this review. We were told this would be a history of fashion in Milan tour. It was apparent from the beginning that thought she was taking us shopping. My wife needs no help shopping. We were there for a cultural tour to learn about the history of Milan’s fashion houses. We met at the Armani Cafe. She told us to be in front. We were there. Had to call her to triangulate and connect. Her first words were, “So what ere do you want to go today?” It was our first time in Milan and this is why we hired the guide. I knew right then we were in for a long afternoon. She tried with a little history of Giorgio Armani that anyone knows from general awareness- no local insight. We went to Loro Piana to get their history. She had no appointment and they clearly didn’t know who she was. They told us to come back in an hour. We wandered the streets with no direction, meandered into Bottega. No appointment with anyone to go through the history. Lots of discussion and back and forth, and then Bottega brought someone out that gave some good background and history. This was as much my wife asking as the guide and again zero planning. At this point I felt bad for her. We went back to Loro Piano and the people there were great and gave a fantastic history of their company. The guide had no insight, history, or anything to add. We still had another hour to go, but we chose to cut her loose as it was just too painful to spend another hour with her watching us draw out the history from these venerable fashion houses. She was very nice and her English was good. I think she would be fine for someone who wants a shopping companion to hold bags and suggest stores. But for someone looking for a tour on the level of what Context provided for the Last Supper (Excellent, 5 stars), this is not it. We asked for a refund but have gotten no response.
