Tour Description
Since Glasgow was designated "European City of Culture" 30 years ago, the world has recognized the significance of this location and the human spirit that pervades it. After many dark years of decadence and struggles, the city transforms itself and seeks to show the world its genuine nature, becoming an example of culture-led restoration.

The prestigious Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum will lead you into a land marked by centuries of creative talent and fascinating history that drew the groundwork for a human revolution.

As you stroll through the stunning Kelvingrove Park and Botanic Gardens, our expert will uncover the beauty and significance of Glasgow's natural and artistic wonders. Lush foliage and bright blossoms will slowly immerse you in the tranquility, drinking up the calm of this urban retreat while you learn of the creative evolution of Glasgow.

This experience wouldn’t be complete without discussing Charles Rennie Mackintosh: a name, a legend. Exploring this artist's exceptional achievements at the Mackintosh at the Willow will be like dancing in the world of design, where the Maestro has turned it upside down with his extraordinary contributions. This exhibition tour needs to be led by a museum guide, and your expert will be there to expand into the depths of the impact of Mackintosh. Depending on the time you book your tour, you can bid your expert farewell and stay for lunch at the restaurant.

By the end of the tour, you will have gained an understanding of Egyptian relics, appreciated significant African and Asian artwork, and developed a connection with the renowned French Impressionists. You will have experienced the peacefulness of the botanic gardens, and Mackintosh will have introduced you to the many facets of design via his creations.

The tour was excellent for getting my wife and I started in Glasgow. We particularly learned a lot about the influence of Charles Rennie McIntosh on Frank Lloyd Wright and Art Neuvo.
Alex was an outstanding guide. He arrived exactly on time. He began by asking us about our backgrounds and sharing his. We immediately discovered that we all had interests in common and that made our tour even more targeted to what we wanted to learn about, art and architecture in particular. It was very impressive that Alex has a Ph.D in art history. He knows Glasgow intimately, as well as Scottish history. Alex’s erudition, sense of humor, friendliness, and enthusiasm made our entire time with him truly riveting. He energetically led us from the Kelvingrove to Charles Rennie Macintosh. We would tour with him anywhere!
