Tour Description
Although we don't always recommend visiting Dubrovnik in a Day, sometimes time is not on our side. This tour is suitable for both visitors staying in Dubrovnik, as well as those who are staying at the cruise port. Either way, we'll pick you up and drop you back off at your accommodation to allow for a full day to explore both Dubrovnik and Cavtat, in the company of a local expert. You'll also enjoy a panoramic sweep of this historic walled town from above Srdj Hill which not all visitors to Dubrovnik manage to see during their stay.

Included

  • Optional: 1.5 hours of individual exploration for those coming by ship

Itinerary Detail

After being picked up by your expert and driver from your accommodation or Dubrovnik’s port, we’ll begin by driving south along the Adriatic through the Konavle Valley, ending up at the historic town of Cavtat. Dating back to the 4th century, Cavtat was originally a Greek settlement before Roman domination. Its significance as an important seaport for the Roman Empire will slowly unravel as we stroll through its charming squares and streets. In more recent times, Cavtat suffered during the breakup of Yugoslavia and the consequent war in Croatia.

Heading back to Dubrovnik, we make a brief stop above the town on Srdj Hill, allowing us to take in the sights of Dubrovnik, its coastline, and a scattering of colorful islands. We then head back into Dubrovnik and explore the Old Town, where your expert guide will highlight the former city's past glory as a powerful naval state in the Adriatic.

For those just visiting by ship, you will have some extra time (around 1.5 hours) to explore Dubrovnik before returning to the port with your driver. Please let us know when you book, if you are staying at the cruise port.

To continue your explorations of Croatia with Context, we recommend our Introduction to Split tour.

We loved Jure! He was very knowledgeable, courteous, and fun. Being from Dubrovnik, he had all the current insider information as well as the history. He understood what we wanted to get out of our time with him. Drago, our driver, was wonderful as well.
We have used Context travel several times in Europe, which have always been good. However, Jure Mandic was by far the best guide we have ever had. His English is perfect and easily understood, his knowledge of Croatian history was exceptional and explained to us well and he never tired of our many questions. What a difference our time with him made for a more rich and enjoyable visit to Dubrovnik. Thank you!
Great tour, Petra was a great guide, very knowledgeable, friendly and spoke perfect English. We learned not only about the history of the region but also how the average Croatian lives, thinks and believes. Bernie & Starla on our 40th wedding anniversary
