A two-day immersion in London
Our resources in this city are considerable. With over 20 scholars in architecture, history, art, and other disciplines, we've crafted a 2½-day investigation of London's millennia through the lenses of art, archaeology, history, and food. After an initial day of introductory chats and overview walks, we will immerse ourselves in Medieval London and discover how the Square Mile went from Roman settlement to financial center of the world.
We'll talk about the great fire of 1666 and how London was rebuilt after it, the great architects that made this city so unique, from Inigo Jones' Banqueting House to Richard Rogers' Lloyd's building. From architecture we'll move to art and science, and the passion for collecting. We'll explore the British Museum- possibly the most representative monument to the Enlightenment. We'll explore the classic collection of the National Gallery or the contemporary art of Tate Modern.
We'll eat well, too, enjoying a walk through one of the city's historic food markets, and a celebratory farewell meal in one of the city's most characteristic Gastro Pub rounding out our experience of London by educating our bellies as much as our minds.
* This trip can also be booked privately upon request for parties of people traveling together. The cost of this is £1230 for the group plus €40 per person. Simply contact us by email if you would like to place a request.
